It’s nice to see you here. In case you aren’t familiar with us, M.J. Abell is a small, Western Maryland-based startup. Our goal is to learn, teach, and preserve lost & disappearing skills; to raise as much of our own food as we can; and to bring up our children in the way they should go, while sharing Christ’s love through our efforts and products.
Given that our current location does not offer much space for us to raise our food, our family is focusing on cooking from scratch and preserving the foods we acquire from local sellers and family/friends; determining which plants & flowers would be suitable/profitable for a small market garden in this growing zone; making cold-process soap; and reinforcing 1 Thessalonians 4:11-12 with our children.
M.J. Abell is not just one person–the name is an acronym of the first letters of our names, including the family dog we still had when we started this venture and chose the name. Turns out, getting six people to agree on a name is far simpler than finding suitable land to purchase! As we continue to search for a property on which to fully establish our homestead, we will keep our mission in sight through fresh-baked bread & rolls, a vegetable & flower garden, and simple cold-process soap to sell at our local farmers market. If you’re not local and/or cannot support us through purchasing our products at this time, please support us in prayer so that we may find the property God has in store for us.
We thank you for joining us on this journey and we look forward to the day we can invite you to our very own farm stand on our own property.
Until then, let’s keep preparing for the future by learning from the past.
Mike & Jaclyn, of M.J. Abell Farm
