This past Monday, March 30, we closed on that property I mentioned in my last post. We will be putting many, many hours of hard work to make this little house our new home.
As many of you know, it’s been close to 4 years of searching for just the right place–a decent piece of usable land, unrestricted, with a house containing more than 3 bedrooms. This one was out of our financial comfort zone, but we were blessed in ways we never imagined and were able to make it happen. Now, we have just over 5 acres, 4 bedrooms, a garage, a basement, and a driveway!
Our new home was built in 1940 and, according to the previous owner, its first purpose was to serve as a preacher’s home. Some time after that, the previous owner’s grandparents purchased it, and she then bought it in 1987. It isn’t a large house, but it is efficiently designed and has so much character inside, along with loads of perennials outside. Due to a lack of attention to multiple things over the decades, we will be redoing most of the inside of the house and restoring it to its 1940s glory (to the best of our ability).
Be sure to follow along on YouTube as we document and share the before, during, and after of creating our home!
